In addition to developing opportunities to network between indigenous practitioners, Tribal leaders & land managers, federal agencies, and climate change scientists. We are also looking to develop opportunities for the next generation of climate change scientists through a poster session. Therefore, we highly encourage and will review for posters submitted from the following:

  1. Fellows/ Students with the Northeast Climate Science Center
  2. Fellows/ Students from Tribal Colleges/Universities working on climate change project
  3. Fellows/ Students with any of the Climate Science Centers.
  4. Fellows/ Students working with the NSF-sponsored research network Sustainable Climate Risk Management (SCRiM).
  5. All others will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on slot availability.

Posters should be relevant to and explore the general themes of Tribes and Climate Change and/or demonstrate work being carried out by the organizations listed above.

Use the following procedure:

  • E-mail shiftingseasons@menominee.edu and label the subject line: “Poster{lastname}”.
  • Include contact information.
  • Attach a title and abstract for your poster.

Selected submissions will be notified by September 19, 2014.

Airports: The closest airport is Austin Straubel International, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

From Green Bay to Keshena and the Menominee Convention Center is about a 1 hour drive. Other options for airports include; Appleton, WI (1 ½ hour drive), Mosinee, WI (1 ½ hour drive), or Milwaukee, WI (3 ½ hour drive).

Rental Cars: For those who are able, we suggest rental cars. Detailed directions to Keshena, WI can be found here.

Shuttle Busses: If you are not able to obtain a rental car, we can assist with transportation from the Green Bay airport. Please let us know your flight information so that we can develop a shuttle schedule for arrival and departure. If you need transportation assistance, it is important that you RSVP by emailing sdishiftingseasons@menominee.edu, or calling Manih Boyd at 715/799-6226 ext. 3041.



The Menominee Casino Resort has a full restaurant on site.

Subway restaurant (ten minutes) further into Keshena.

The City of Shawano, a 15 minute drive from the meeting site, has several restaurant and fast food locations available.

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast will be provided during summit

Lunches will be provided to preserve the continuity of the meetings.

Light Refreshments will be provided during morning and afternoon breaks

The Wednesday evening welcome/ social event will include appetizers and light refreshments.

All other dinner arrangements can be made through any of the places listed above.
