Gregory Gauthier is the Tribal College and University (TCU) AmeriCorps Vista volunteer at the Sustainable Development Institute, College of Menominee Nation. His focus is to assist with the development of specific climate vulnerability assessments and a tribal-wide climate change adaptation plan for the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. He is an enrolled member of the Menominee Nation of Wisconsin and has obtained B.S. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Ecology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
Gregory’s interest lie within the biophysical, socio-economic, and cultural spatial distributions that are inherently interconnected networks that can affects us all positively/negatively, whether it be climate change, weather, or the economy. His time volunteering with the AmeriCorps Vista Program creates an opportunity for him to give back to the Menominee community which helped him grow into the person he is today. His love for the outdoors and the AmeriCorps Vista Program translates well with the work he will do and continue to do in the future.
Gregory Gauthier will be working with SDI through our participation in the Native Climate Resilience Network (NCRN). The majority of his work will focus on community climate change planning efforts for Menominee, but he will also be introduced to our larger national partnerships and work we are doing with other Tribes in the northeast region. He will be stationed at SDI until next August 2017. SDI will be hosting the position for two more years after that.
