Mike Dockry
USDA Forest Service Liaison to the Sustainable Development Institute

Mike Dockry became the USDA Forest Service Liaison to the College of Menominee Nation Sustainable Development Institute in March 2005. Mike is a USDA Forest Service Employee working with the Sustainable Development Institute to facilitate sustainable forestry research, education, policy analysis, and technical assistance. Mike represents five Forest Service Units, Forest Products Laboratory, North Central Research Station, North East Research Station, Northeast Area State and Private Forestry, and Region 9 of the National Forest System.
Mike received a BS degree in Forest Science with a Certificate in Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He has an MS in Forest Resources focused on Forest Ecology from Pennsylvania State University. Mike worked as an Environmental Planning Intern for the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin before becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer for three years. Mike worked on soil conservation, reforestation, and environmental education projects with a Bolivian University in a small Andean community for two years. He spent one year working with community development and natural resource planning in a Bolivian National Park in the Amazonian Tropics. Most recently Mike was the Assistant Forest Planner for the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests. Mike worked extensively to facilitate dialogue between the public, scientists, and FS managers to create integrated and sustainable Forest Plans.
