Melissa Cook
Federal Grants Initiatives & Sponsored Program Specialist
Melissa Cook joined the College of Menominee in December of 2001, as the Federal Grant Initiatives & Sponsored Program Specialist, for the division of Outreach and Sustainable Development Institute. She provides support to secure external funding to further CMN’s mission and goals. She is responsible for grants writing and for obtaining and administration of sponsored programs including grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements with federal agencies, foundations, and other sources of funding.

She is a graduate of the Menominee Indian High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Marquette University, and Master of Arts degree in History with a Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Prior to joining CMN, Melissa worked for seven years for Menominee Tribal Enterprises, the Menominee sustainably managed forest and wood products manufacturing operation. She was the Project Manager for Menominee Tribal Enterprise’s Revitalization & Expansion Project. She managed externally funded projects, special projects, research projects, and public outreach initiatives. Gaining valuable knowledge while at Menominee Tribal Enterprises, she brought this experience and enthusiasm to the College of Menominee Nation. She looks forward to the unique and ever growing opportunities offered by working for the College of Menominee Nation.

Melissa is an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe. She resides in Neopit on the Menominee Indian Reservation with her three children. She serves on the Board of Directors for Menominee Tribal Enterprises, as well as on Board for the Northwoods NiiJii Enterprise Community.
